Châtel is arguably the best mountain biking area in the Alps, in fact if not the world! Over 380 km of trails and numerous lifts, that will transport your bike up the mountain, means that Châtel is fast gaining an unsurpassed reputation as the best downhill location in Europe. Châtel offers an enviable choice from bike parks, to XC trails to challenging down hill routes.
Each year participants flock to Châtel and the Portes du Soleil to take part in the Passportes du Soleil. This year the 3 day event starts on the 28th June.
The MTB Passportes du Soleil is a mountain trek ranging from 1000 to 2250m in altitude, in both France and Switzerland, where you can discover the fabulous Portes du Soleil MTB terrain and its grandiose scenery. The 80 km circuit use 14th lifts. Different variations will be organized for mountain bikers wishing to cycle up hill. The trek takes one day, and participants can choose whether to ride it on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Over 3000 riders are expected.
