Châtel is a great place for all levels to improve their skiing or try snowboarding. There are a number of ski schools operating in Châtel and we are happy to talk through your requirements and pre book lessons or give advice on guiding etc.
ESI Ski School
Group lessons can be a fun & rewarding way to learn or improve your skills. A full range of lessons & private instruction is offered from established Châtel ski school. Generally good English speaking instructors & maximum of 8 per group class.
ESF Ski School
They offer a wide range of lessons and can also provide sessions in snow shoeing or cross country skiing.
British Alpine Ski School
BASS have a great reputation in Châtel and offer fun lessons using a holistic approach to teaching skiing using both mind and body. Group lessons are a maximum of 6 or there is the option of private lessons.
For ski passes there are two options either the Châtel only pass or one for the Portes du Soleil (PDS) area. We are happy to advise on which will be the more suitable for your requirements. Generally we advise to go with the full PDS pass if you have skied a couple of weeks before. Once used the Chatel pass cannot be upgraded and if you change your mind a full PDS pass has to be purchased. The lift pass operates on a micro chip system which means it is ‘hands free’ and you do not need to provide a photo. For 2 weeks stays a photo is required for all passes of 8 days and over.
The Châtel ski area consists of two main sectors: Barbossine / Super-Châtel and Linga / Pré-la-Joux, lying between 1100m and 2200m (3600 ft and 7200 ft).
The Châtel ski domain has 48 ski slopes : 5 black, 16 red, 16 blue and 11 green with a total length of 90 km and 45 ski-lifts.
The inclusive Châtel ski pass is also valid for the Swiss resort of Torgon, the Corbeau section of the Swiss resort, Morgins, as well as the Braitaz section of La Chapelle d’Abondance. In all 58 ski-lifts, 130 km (80 miles) of superb, thrilling ski slopes (71 slopes).
